Why can’t I find BDSM community in Bangkok?

Thought I would touch on a topic this time which isn’t as prominent in Thailand. The topic is BDSM. In a lad full of sex you would think that BDSM would be everywhere but it definitely isn’t. There are certain bars such as Bar Bar in Silom and Demonia on Sukhumvit, and a few freelance shady spots in between but that is pretty much your options when it comes to BDSM in Bangkok.

There isn’t a huge BDSM community around Thailand either. In European countries you will find whole websites dedicated to dating for kinks and fetishes. I like to dabble in a bit of light BDSM myself, none of the heavy stuff though. I usually go to Bar Bar but the prices tend to be rather expensive when you compare it to picking up a normal Thai girl from the street.
Prices range from about 5000 Thai baht and upwards for a session with a girl in their dungeon. That works out at roughly 100 great British pounds. The ladies are not the best looking I have ever seen either, although there are some nice ones in Demonia Silom.
If you are on a budget you can find a lot of freelance doms online just by typing various key words in to Google. You will find that Craigslist and places like that will have listings for BDSM in the Bangkok area and all round Thailand also. You may be able to get one of these for as low as 60 great British pounds, but that is up to you to negotiate. Some will even be willing to try hard sports and soft sports (peeing and pooping).
Aside from following the above then you are just going to have to go out and about in chaotic nightlife of Bangkok and meet and greet people whom you think may have a freakish side. Good luck with that. Your average Thai girls are quite reserved until you get to know them well and by then if you find out she’s not a freak you may have wasted a lot of your time.
Stick the freelance escorts, fetish bars and escort agencies if you want to fulfil your nasty side. Some of the bars also do SM shows but they again tend to be quite expensive. Entrance is like 900 Thai baht with a free beer, then drinks are about 250 Thai baht after that. They will sometimes pull the farang up on stage and tie string around their balls or let them eat cream off the Thai girl’s feet. Weird stuff like that.
All in all it can work out to be an expensive night out for just a show. Probably better to go the extra mile and get yourself in one of their dungeons.
To summarize once again, forget about finding fetish dating online. Stick to the seedy red light areas and you will do just fine as long as you have a pocket full of cash.
